Lidar surveying technology is an efficient and fast 3D surveying technique, and its application in engineering surveying is becoming increasingly widespread. For example, obtaining three-dimensional coordinates through high-precision and high-density laser point cloud data, and then manually interacting to obtain a digital elevation model. It can effectively solve the problem of quickly collecting DEM data, and its high accuracy can also meet the high requirements for elevation in many industries. In addition, some basic and precision surveying techniques have also been applied to LiDAR surveying technology.
For LiDAR mapping, the measurement accuracy and efficiency depend on the sampling frequency of the ADC. In LiDAR, the signal received by the receiver needs to be amplified and channel gated through an analog front-end, and then converted into a digital signal by an ADC. Therefore, the measurement accuracy of LiDAR directly depends on the sampling frequency of ADC. The GXSC GX9208 ADC can replace ADI‘s AD9208 and be applied to surveying radar.
GX9208 is a dual channel, 14 bit, 3GSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This device has an on-chip buffer and sample and hold circuit, designed specifically for low power consumption, small size, and ease of use. This product is designed to support communication applications and can achieve direct sampling of broadband analog signals up to 5GHz. GX9208 has been optimized in various aspects, including wide input bandwidth, high sampling rate, excellent linearity, and small package with low power consumption.

This dual channel ADC core adopts a multi-level, differential pipeline architecture and integrates output error correction logic. Each ADC has a wide bandwidth input. Integrating a reference voltage source can simplify design considerations. The analog input and clock signal are both differential input signals.
GX9208 utilizes the fast detection control signal in the register (0x0245) of the ADC, and the programmable threshold detector can monitor the input signal power. If the input signal level exceeds the programmable threshold, the rapid detection indicator will turn high. Due to the extremely short delay of the threshold indicator, users can quickly reduce the system gain to avoid ADC input overshoot. In addition to fast detection output, GX9208 also has signal monitoring capability. The signal monitoring module can provide other information for ADC to digitize and process signals.
