In chromatography analyzer design, high-performance data acquisition signal chains for optical gas chromatography require high dynamic range performance while reducing power consumption, size, and cost. One way to achieve high dynamic range is to oversample the analog-to-digital converter in order to accurately monitor and measure both weak and strong input signals from the sensor, and the GXSC GX7173 is recommended as the sampling component for this instrument.
The GX7173 is a fast build-up, highly accurate, low-power, 8/16-channel, multiplexed ADC suitable for use with low-bandwidth input signals, with integrated input buffer. The chip integrates a precision 2.5V low-drift (3.5ppm/°C) bandgap reference voltage source and oscillator, and offers eight flexible settings that can be configured for output data rate, digital filter mode, distortion/gain error correction reference voltage selection, buffer enable, PGA, and more.

The GX7173 for chromatography analyzers is performance features:
- Fast and flexible output rates: 1.25SPS to 31.25kSPS
- Channel scan data rate: 6.21kSPS/channel number (setup time: 161µs)
- Performance Specifications: 17.5-bit noise-free resolution (31.25kSPS);
24-bit noise-free resolution (1.25SPS);
Integral nonlinearity (INL): ±3ppm/FSR;
- 50Hz and 60Hz rejection: 85dB, build-up time of 50ms
- Operating voltage: 3.3V or 5V Current: 4mA
- QFN-40 package 6mm × 6mm, can replace AD7173
