The GX33550 is a high-performance RS-485/RS-422 device designed to improve performance in noisy industrial environments and increase fault tolerance for system failures. The analog bus pins provide protection against ESD events up to ±10kV HBM. A common mode operating range of up to -7V to 12V allows for more reliable operation in noisy environments.

The chip receiver includes complete fail-safe circuitry to ensure a logic-high receiver output in the event of an open, shorted, or undriven receiver input.The GX33550 receiver has an input impedance of at least 120k (1/10 unit load), allowing for more than 320 devices on the bus. The driver is protected by short-circuit detection as well as thermal shutdown, allowing high impedance to be maintained during shutdown or power loss.
