16-bit ADC GX7980 (AD7980) for Ash Meter Design with Power Consumption of Only 7.7mW

Time:2024-10-08 Views:451
The ash meter can be used for ash detection, which can improve the efficiency compared with the traditional detection method. This paper describes the application of the domestic ADC GX7980 (AD7980) in the ash tester. The ADC is compatible with AD7980, has certain architectural advantages, GXSC can provide full technical support and supply channels.

In the design of the ash meter, the ash information is obtained through the detector, amplified by the op-amp, transmitted to the ADC for analog-to-digital conversion, and finally transmitted to the main control to do calculations. 16-bit ADC GX7980 with a throughput speed of 1MSPS can be applied to it.
The GX7980 (AD7980) is a 16-bit SAR-type ADC with a single power supply. It incorporates a low-power, high-speed, 16-bit sampling ADC and a versatile serial interface port. The reference voltage is externally supplied and can be independent of the supply voltage. Power consumption and throughput rate vary linearly over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.

The GX7980 offers the following advantages.
1, there are two packages, DFN and MSOP, the size of 3mmx3mm, small package, is conducive to reducing the board area.
2, standby current 50nA, power consumption 7.7mW @ Fs = 1MSPS, low power consumption, power saving.
3, support single-ended input, pseudo-differential input, true full differential input, unipolar input, bipolar input and other input methods, can adapt to a variety of input scenarios.
