While conventional ECG monitors usually require carrying the recording monitor with you in a pocket near the patient‘s neck or wrist, wireless ECG monitors are significantly less noisy and intrusive, reduced in size to the point where they can even be mounted on the back of the electrodes, and are able to provide a much more accurate signal than conventional solutions. And all the circuitry can be worn inside clothing, so patient comfort and privacy are dramatically increased.
Wearable ambulatory ECG monitors generally consist of electrode pads, a mainframe, a battery, a charging cable, and smart software, with most choosing to integrate the electrode pads, mainframe, and battery into one complete device. Since the size of such monitors is extremely small enough to be mounted on the back of the ECG electrodes, their signal accuracy is superior to conventional designs because of the greatly reduced noise and interference.

For ECG monitors requiring wider dynamic range and higher signal-to-noise ratios, the GXSC ADC GX7980 provides 16-bit resolution with a throughput speed of 1MSPS; powered by a single power supply, the GX7980 has a built-in low-power, high-speed sampling ADC and a versatile serial interface port. On the rising edge of CNV, the device samples the analog input voltage difference between IN+ and IN- from 0 V to REF. The reference voltage is externally supplied and can be used independently of the supply voltage, with power consumption varying linearly with throughput rate.
The SPI-compatible serial interface is also capable of daisy-chaining several ADCs onto a three-wire bus utilizing the SDI inputs and providing an optional busy indication. It is compatible with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V logic when utilizing a separate power supply VIO.
