24-bit 6-channel highly integrated GX1220 hardware and software to replace the ADS1220 used in safety barriers

Safety gate is an important part of the intrinsically safe system, the main function is to limit the current and voltage, to ensure that the field instrumentation can be obtained in the safe range of energy, the need for a variety of analog signals in the hazardous area for the collection of analog-to-digital converter in the intrinsically safe circuit and non-intrinsically safe circuit to achieve the isolation of the signal between the collection and processing. This paper recommends the use of the GX1220 to replace the ADS1220 for accurate signal measurement and processing in safety barriers.
The GX1220 is a low-power, low-noise, highly integrated complete analog front-end with an internal 24-bit, 3.7kSPS six-channel, low-power delta-sigma ADC with PGA, VREF, SPI, and two IDACs, and can be used as a 100% replacement for the ADS1220 in software/hardware. the device‘s high level of integration reduces system cost and component count. The GX1220 is capable of performing conversions at data rates up to 3710 SPS. Digital filters at ≤20 SPS provide 50Hz or 60Hz rejection for noisy industrial applications, making the GX1220 ideally suited for applications that measure signals from small sensors, as described in the following features:

- Programmable gain: 1V/V to 128V/V
- Programmable data rate: up to 3.7kSPS
- 50Hz or 60Hz rejection at <20SPS, single-cycle settling digital filters
- Three differential or five single-ended inputs
- Internal bias voltage generator Dual matched programmable current sources: 10uα-1.5mα
- Internal 2.048V reference voltage: 8ppm/°C (typical) drift
- Internal 2% precision oscillator
- SPI-compatible interface
- Packages: TSSOP and QFN
